Donald is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Eau Rouge Investment Managers. Donald’s career in investment management began in 1983 when he joined Martin & Co Inc after having qualified as a Chartered Accountant and completed articles with Price Waterhouse. He has extensive experience across all fund management operations, including unit trusts, retirement products, institutional fund management and private client portfolio management.

Donald was the portfolio manager for Fleming Martin Acorn Growth Fund, which was a consistent performer in the top quartile of general equity unit trusts, and was named Plexus Fund Manager of the Month for March 1998. He was the Managing Director of Fleming Martin Management Company at the time the company was acquired by Quyn Holdings in 1999 whereupon he became Managing Director of Quyn Martin Asset Management. Donald joined Investec Securities when that company acquired Quyn Martin Asset Management in 2000, where he acted as Chief Investment Officer.

He had direct responsibility for the Long Term Growth investment mandate, the Progressive Yield mandate, SA and offshore investment strategy and was an active participant in the offshore fund management selection process.

Gareth graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2013 with a B. Bus Science (Finance Honours) as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA). He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016 after completing his articles at Ernst & Young in Johannesburg, working primarily with retail clients, but also gaining experience auditing the financial and industrial sectors.

Gareth went on to spend a year in Canada and the United States, working as a ski instructor and hiking the entire Appalachian Trail before returning to South Africa. He joined the investment team at Eau Rouge in late 2017, contributing to all areas of the investment process.

Jonathan completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2012 and his postgraduate honours qualification at the University of Johannesburg in 2013. He commenced his training contract at Ernst & Young in 2014, where he primarily gained experience in the finance sector. After obtaining his qualification as a CA(SA), he was seconded to New York City, where he performed audit work for a listed property company.

He returned to South Africa at the end of 2017 and took a keen interest in SMEs, subsequently starting his own consultancy business. Through this venture, he gained access to an array of clients, which eventually culminated in a full-time Head of Finance position at an apparel manufacturing company in Cape Town. He joined the Eau Rouge team in 2024 and now contributes to the investment decision-making process.

Christof graduated from the North-West University with a BComHons in Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management in 2018, after having graduated Cum Laude with Honorary colours in BCom Entrepreneurship and Business Management in 2017. He began his career at FNB International as part of the FNB graduate program where he was exposed to various aspects of Banking. He went on to become a Customer Value Management (CVM) Specialist with his most recent role being an Ultra-High Net Worth Relationship Manager at FNB Namibia. Christof joined the investment team at Eau Rouge in 2022 as a Client Relationship Manager.

Melanie graduated from the University of South Africa in 1999 and successfully completed her five-year articles with the Public Accountants’ & Auditors’ Board at KPMG in Namibia in 1998. She began her investment career as trainee research analyst with Namibian Asset Managers working alongside Coronation’s Analysts Team in Cape Town. She worked as a Retail Investment Specialist at Old Mutual, where she gained a wealth of experience in the Namibian unit trust space, before becoming CEO of EMH Prescient, a Namibian partnership between Hangala Capital and Prescient Investment Managers in South Africa. Melanie joined the investment team at Eau Rouge in 2022 as the Portfolio Manager in Namibia.

Shaun is an integral part of our team, bringing his expertise to the role of IT Manager since joining Eau Rouge in 2015. In his capacity, Shaun is highly proficient and plays a key role in managing and optimising our information technology systems, ensuring seamless operations across various departments.
