Eau Rouge’s policy has always been to avoid any conflict of interest at all costs. Our conflict of interest policy can be obtained by emailing admin@eaurouge.co.za, or viewed at our offices during normal working hours.

A drive for innovation inspired the formation of Eau Rouge and remains a core part of our culture. We believe that our target market is underserviced by the investment management industry in general, paying high fees for sub-par performance and impersonal service. We’re excited about our business and we are convinced that our investment philosophy, process and administration are best-of-breed. So it is not surprising that every member of the Eau Rouge team has a significant proportion of their own personal wealth invested right alongside our clients, mirroring our model portfolio. This means we’re naturally motivated to outperform, focused on the same things as our clients are, and free of conflicts of interest.

A nimble and collaborative team approach

Our team is small and energetic, ensuring a rapid and smooth flow of information throughout the organisation. Constructive debate is encouraged and facilitated by cross-coverage of securities, which increases our objectivity and reduces our reliance on a single view. We discourage the development of star analysts or managers and encourage diversity of thought. We share responsibility for each decision we make. We do not rely on sell-side estimates alone but add value through our own proprietary research which is stress tested against third party research. Our generalist approach to research allows each team member to have a holistic perspective of market drivers and ensures succession of knowledge.

Discipline and diligence

We believe in our investment process and are committed to ensuring that each client’s portfolio receives the full benefit thereof. All too often portfolios in the SA private client or retail fund management space are managed according to the whims and biases of individual portfolio managers rather than through a disciplined investment process. We employ highly sophisticated execution and investment compliance monitoring systems to ensure that each portfolio reflects as far as possible our best investment ideas, and have a culture where the collective wisdom of the team is regarded above individual preference.
